Welcome to the Nelson Memorial Library!
This guide is here to help you better understand how we organize our books and how libraries organize themselves as a whole.
It will go section-by-section to explain the how & why we arrange things at Nelson, and provide helpful resources from the Library of Congress & the American Library Association (ALA).
The Nelson Memorial Library is distinct in three ways:
An Academic Library is a library connected to a higher education institution that serves its students, faculty, and staff with research & information according to its curriculum. This means at Nelson University one will find many theological - specifically Christian - works and resources.
Our mission is to equip students spiritually, academically, professionally, and cross-culturally for their God-given careers and callings.
Please never be afraid to ask any kind of question. Librarians are here to help you in your growth & discovery of God's calling for you.
