Whether you are a freshman or a doctoral student, you will eventually need to access journals/articles for your research. We have you covered!
Articles come from journals, and journals come either in print or in an online database. We maintain print subscriptions to some key journals that are either not in a database or the database only allows access to older issues. If you find an article in a journal to which we have a current print subscription, email us at library@nelson.edu with detailed information about the article and a librarian can help retrieve the volume from library storage.
To access journal articles online, first decide which starting point below is best for you. Using that starting point, you should be on your way to successfully accessing online journals!
Off-Campus Access
Accessing digital resources off-campus requires an extra step to verify you are a Nelson student, staff, or faculty member.
Begin by selecting the digital material you wish to access, like from one of these:
(Not sure where to begin your research? Ask a Librarian: library@nelson.edu)
Enter your Blackboard/Nelson credentials
Almost all library resources require you to login using the same username/password you use to access Blackboard or Nelson email. Your username is usually your first name, middle initial, and last name: johnedoe. Your password is unique to you. If you need your password reset, please talk to the IT office, or contact ithelpdesk@nelson.edu.
Enjoy browsing!
That's it! You should now be able to search the digital resources. Some databases may require you to log in to save your resources to a folder, or you can email articles to yourself as well. Any vendor account, like an Ebsco folder, is a separate account from your Nelson library account at nelson.edu/library.
