Research Help: Searching for Books & Media

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Nelson University students, staff, and faculty may borrow materials from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan for free. You may request books, articles from periodicals, and chapters from books. Physical items (like books) typically arrive in four (4) to seven (7) business days; digital items (like articles and chapters form books) typically arrive within two (2) to four (4) business days.

Once you discover a resource that we do not already have in Nelson Memorial Library, and you would like to request it from another library, there are several ways to do so:

  1. In Nelson Discovery, click the "Request Item through Interlibrary Loan" button and enter your information.
  2. In (most) databases, select the "Request Item through Interlibrary Loan" button and enter your information.
  3. Email the abstract/bibliographic information directly from a database. Send your request to library@nelson.edu and make sure to include your Nelson email address in the comment field.
  4. Or, here is the link to the ILL Form.

We will process the request as quickly as possible and will email you when the item has arrived or if we need more information to process your request.

Online students living outside of driving distance of a Nelson campus are encouraged to work with their local public library or another academic library to obtain physical books through ILL in order to gain the most time with the borrowed book as possible.

Nelson University does not charge patrons to borrow materials. Borrowers are responsible for overdue charges, as well as replacement costs for lost books.
